Smothered in aphids,
my rose buds cry.
Yet, with my tea
I sit idly by.
I wink at those
over the fence,
spraying and moaning,
in rose defence.
Hoverfly, Ladybeetle,
Wasp and Bee:
hardworking friends
come visit me.
A half moon-phase.
A glass of wine.
No more aphids;
my roses are mine!
