Carthage St. Garden design - 2016
Schaffner Garden, 2016
This was a revamp of the existing garden including remedial pruning, weeding and tidy up. The garden then required a slim budget makeover in keeping with a meditational and peaceful theme leaning towards an oriental flavour.
Shishi odoshi water feature
Shishi odoshi means 'deer scarer' in Japanese. Another name for this water feature is water hammer. Traditionally it was used in rice paddies to scare deer and wild boar. More recently it is featured in Japanese gardens, where upon entering one takes a drink from the bowl symbolising internal purification followed by a washing of the hands symbolising external purification. The sound of the water hammer reminds one of the passing of time and thought.
Sharpe Garden, 2016
Design featuring foliage and flower colour, incorporation of existing statues, obscuring of clothesline from the street and ease of access and maintenance.
